Even though I started in the server world, and then I transitioned to storage, I am trying really hard to learn all I can about VMware, and possibly other virtualization technologies. I strongly believe that storage, as what happened with compute, is going to be a commodity. I am trying to transition to what is going to be the software defined era, the hyper-converge software defined era. Take a look at vSphere, with VSAN and NSX, and tell me is not all you need for a huge percent of your applications. The virtual Data Center is the first step into the private cloud, I guess soon it will be the status quo, and we will start to look for new terms and buzz words to keep ourselves relevant.
